Spring 2013: The To Do List

Perhaps some blossoms will tempt you toward an optimistic future.

Farmers are notorious list builders.  The list of "To Dos" grows as the season progresses; the checks can't keep up with the additions to a list.  For now, an April list feels manageable and a farmer can assume (for once in said chosen occupation) that he or she has the upper hand.  Of course, the warming sun conspires with growing things and very soon, farmers are chasing after a highly self motivated and transformational beast.

Soon, a list is futile and a vain attempt at control.

Autumn

Being in the orchard these days is peaceful and reflective.

The changes are bittersweet as it will be months before we sink our teeth into Summer's peach.

The orchard is a metaphor for life.  These trees shift and grow and return to themselves through the changing seasons.

They provide delicious fruit in the Summer and by Winter, they turn inward in dormancy through the bitter cold.  They invite  a diversity of birds and insects to pollinate and feast.  And, yes, to our consternation, a few bears have fattened up nicely for their winter sleep while dining on plums and apples.

Autumn in particular is when we spend time in the orchard together, quietly in awe of having planted these trees and having the privilege to eat beautiful fruits each year from such giving trees.  We have seen them grow up, essentially!  From small grafts or whips to large standard and robust works of Art.  We have built a wonderful relationship with them  and the environment they have created as an orchard.

And to you, fine folk, who had the pleasure of eating a peach from our orchard, you are lucky to know the true and honest flavour of the wondrous peach!

Thank you for enjoying the fruits and vegetables of Sapo Bravo Organics.  We have had so much fun delivering beauty to your smiling faces!

Have a great Winter and we'll see you next year!
